Kickin It

Hey whats happening people? Hope everyone had a great week!! cuz its the weekend now and time to chillout right? lol

To help get the weekend started off right i'll give yall my cult horror film of the week!!
This weeks movie comes from the great era of the 1980s, which I feel was the best decade for movies, because that is where alot of great horror films originated from, and if the horror film didn't originate in the 80s, the better remake was in the 80s. The remakes they have now are absolute dogshit... I don't know if anyone has seen the Halloween remake by Rob Zombie...and all I have to say is that he should stick to what he is good at......music....because the movies ain't his thing let me say..alright anyway

This week we're talking about "The Vanishing" (1988). Based on Tim Krabbe's compelling novel The Golden Egg, George Sluizer's "The Vanishing" (a.k.a. Spoorloos) easily ranks as one of the most frightening and eerie film mystery thrillers ever made. Told in elliptical style, it won the Dutch Film Critics Award and the Best Film at the 1988 Nederlands Film Festival. The brilliance of "The Vanishing" lies in the methodical but seemingly innocuous way it inexorably guides us to its unthinkable climax as Rex Hofman (Gene Bervoets) awakes from a narcotic-induced coma to find himself buired alive in a wooden coffin, with only a cigarette lighter to illuminate his final moments...a must see for any cult movie fan.

Michael Jackson would have been celebrating his birthday this weekend but sadly the King of Pop is deceased..I still can't really believe that ya know...Michael Jackson is dead..wow,

well it looks like its going to be more of my favortie show Family Guy and also more games this saturday at my sister in law's house..looking forward to beating her in yet another game of trivia..or any game you want Chris, no matter the challenege I will always be victorious !!!!MUAHAHAHAHAH!...........actually i'm kidding the only reason I won is cuz I had Shawn on my team lol but hey winning is winning

Of course before that My beautiful wife and her sister will be going shopping all day..and guys you know when I say all day I mean ALL DAY lol lets face it girls just can't effectivley shop. Thats ok though sometimes they find good deals...sometimes Love you hunny lol

I've begun work on my Halloween costume this year (which by the way is a ZOMBIE) my best friend and brother Robert Carrick will be doing the special effects on my face once again.. you all remember last year, his awesome work on my two-face....face lol. So i can't wait to see it completed.

Well thats all for now, come out tonight everyone to the Bier Haus in Canal Fulton for my DJ show and Karaoke, first one is on me!!

Have A Great Weekend!!!!!!

Into the West

US Senator Edward (Teddy) Kennedy, a towering figure in the Democratic Party who took the helm of one of America's mos fabled political families after two older brother were assassinated, died at age 77, his family said.

"Edward M. Kennedy, the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply, died late Tuesday night at home in Hyannis Port (Massachusetts)." The Kennedy family said in a statement early today.

One of the most influential and longest-serving senators in US history -- a liberal standard-bearer who was also known as a consummate congressinal dealmaker -- Kennedy had been battling brain caner, which was diagnosed in May 2008.

His death marked the twilight of a political dynasty and dealt a blow to Democrats as they seek to answer President Barack Obama's call for an overhaul of the healthcare system.

He will be missed, and I fear our hopes for a better healthcare system may have died with him.

Cash for Bunkers

Hello my friends lol how was everyone's weekend? good I hope, I realize that today is Tuesday but, my internet is not always reliable so it makes it difficult to post when there is no connection lol.. I had a pretty good weekend. Saturday night was Family Guy and trivia, which is a perfect evening especially when the guys won....again! sorry Chris but its true, maybe ya'll should pick a new game ;-P lol JK anyway be sure to look over my blog for the cool changes i've made...I've got a weekly poll..and current event update on the right side...check em out

The "Cash for Clunkers" program ended, I believe, it was yesterday at 8:00pm, the $3 billion program was desgined to "Help stimulate the automovtive industry" by encouraging people who are thinking about buying a newer fuel friendly car to go ahead and do that because they could get up to $4500 trade for their older "clunker." And people are raving that it has indeed worked and that the auto industry will back on its feet in no time...............................BUT, I don't think it did anything at all but TEMPORARILY solve a permanant problem.

People are not buying cars, not because they're not getting enough trade in value(thats a lot of 'nots' but stay with me here), but because they have no money, and they have no money, because there are no jobs, there are no jobs because everything is made over seas...

This country is an industrial country..In order to make money and have jobs we must produce...we don't produce anything.. Our country is controlled by foreign investors, who own large portions of our country as collateral for "bailing us out" so many many times..

So yes this cash for your car program will temporarily bring some people back to work so they can fill the current auto orders.....but what happens after that???? since the program is over and people are back to doing exactly what they were before the program, what now?????? the ansewer......

"Cash for your Refrigerator" Is the new program designed by the government to help stimulate the economy.. thinking about buying a new fridge or appliance...the $300 million program allows you to trade in your old fridge, for an energy smart fridge, giving people a max of $200...way to go!

I say we take this money and build underground bunkers because these ideas are going to blow up in our faces.. and if they don't, some country will because America just loves to keep pissing people off over there don't we.. So a Bunker seems to be a very smart idea at this point if any chance of survival is to be had.. maybe we'll get a good trade value and could stock it with some food too!!

lol ttyl

Kickin' It with Brett (week 2)

Hello everybody whats happenin? Its Friday yet again..Thank God. lol and Its turning out to be a nice day so far so let's hope the weather sticks.. I have to DJ tonight and don't want to be driving to Canal Fulton in the storm of the century lol

anyway lets get to the good stuff shall we?

"Brett's Cult Movie Pick of the Week" dum dum dum daaaaaaaaa lol alright my favorite part of the whole blogging thing..talking about pop culture. love it love it love it..... lol this weeks movie pick is.....Roman Polanski's "Repulsion"(1965) starring the gorgeous Catherine Deneuve. The crack is the structural metaphore around which "Repulsion" is built, a signifier of impossibility for Carole Ledoux (Deneuve) to close the gap from which her nightmarish hallucinations arise, and the point of her withdrawal and alienation from the world of consciousness. The result of this cracking is first a murderous frenzy and ultimately cataonia. A story of one young woman's decent into maddness. If you haven't seen this movie you need to go out to wherever videos are sold or rented..and rent it, or buy it, and watch it.. lol its good shit!

Aerosmith had to cancel all their remaining tour shows this summer, as a result from Steven Tyler falling off the stage a number of weeks ago.. He is ok but unable to perform the remaining shows.. so MY TICKETS HAD TO GET REFUNDED lol but i'm not mad get well Steven i'll catch your next show...if there is one..
Still have Metallica coming in October so not all is lost.. lol

I Just started reading "Duma Key" by Stephen King so I don't have much to report on it yet.

alright I think I will end this week with a trivia question let's see who is smart..

Name the movie in which Billy Crudup tells Albert Finney, "You're like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny combined--just as charming, and just as fake."

Where have all the jobs gone?

Ok so seriously are there any jobs left in this city...and the ansewer of course is..Hell NO!! I remember when I was 16 and started looking for my first job, there was like 2 pages of the "General Help" section of the Classifieds...Now there is one half a column, and thats on Sunday the biggest job posting day of the week..

I believe the the job loss rate was 500,000 jobs lost a month since Janurary.. 500, 000 jobs lost a MONTH. But there is nothing wrong with the economy right? thats what the intelligent conservatives and the "tea party" think who were protesting President O'bama's health care plan, "If Obama signs that plan all the tires in the world will suddenly deflate"............ok so thats not an actual quote of someone but when you hear the actual quotes "I think President O'bama should step back and let the Economy heal itself." It makes you wonder just how far off we are from really hearing the former one.

I think I would have more respect for conservatives during this situation if they actually posed an argument that wasn't something from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood of Make Believe, because so far thats all they seem to be doing by stating "medicare will be gone" and "this plan is a hitler plan" I mean whats next????

anyway I say its time for the Zombiepocalypse.....i'm ready...are you??

A 67 watt bulb

I thought it was a good title for a blog: a 67 watt bulb. My friend Robert seems to find it rather odd that I have 67 watt bulbs in my house, he claims that he has never seen a 67 watt bulb before, and he finds it to be the most interesting thing about me.. I think because I won't tell him where it is I buy these bulbs.

Well I still will not reveal where I get them, I think its rather funny that such an obscure thing can peek an interest in a person enough to where they actively think about it on a regular basis, perhaps, as a destraction from the everyday bull-shit that we all have to go through just to buy food. A simple low-stress topic that focuses our mind on something that really doesn't matter one way or another if we solve the ansewer to. So for just a few minutes the biggest problem in life is "Where does he get those wonderful toys?" lol or rather "Where do you get those bulbs?"

I think that should be a little something everyone who reads this does this week sometime. Find something irrelevant and think about it for a while.. remember though it has to be irrevelant, it does no good to think about something important because the idea is to get lost for a minute in a completely useless thought.

Wheather it be..."Why do they make yellow cups?" or "Why do we use grass to determine if its better on the other side of the street?, shouldn't it be the person's house?" Find some useless topic and dwell on it for a while....

If you guys come up with any really good questions make sure to leave them on my comments page..

GOOD LUCK!!!

so unfortunately I don't have much time to use the computer since there are a million people who are waiting...I came down here to see you Chris but I couldn't find you anywhere its 10:35 right now so maybe i'll see you when I leave. lol

Kickin' it with Brett

Finally Friday!! lol well I said we would talk about some fun cool stuff today and I always try to keep my promises so we most definately will, but first I think we need to pay a little tribute to the great Les Paul who past away yesterday,..as sad day in music to be sure, for those of you who don't know who he is...

Lester William Polsfuss, known as Les Paul (* June 9, 1915; † August 13, 2009) was a musician and inventor. He was a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar which "made the sound of rock and roll possible." He is credited with inventing or discovering many recording innovations including overdubbing (also known as sound on sound), delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording.
His innovative talents extended into his playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many of the guitarists of the present day..Thank you Les!!

Alright now for the good stuff. I figure since its friday and all I should try and do some fun stuff. So today we'll talk about my "CULT HORROR FILM OF THE WEEK" lol thats right mo fo's you knew it was only a matter of time.

This weeks pick is..."Island of Lost Souls" 1932 (it has been re-made as "island of dr. moreau") Starring Charles Laughton and Bela Lugosi, Directed by Erle Kenton.

This H.G. Wells picture tells the tale of shipwrecked Edward Parker, who ends up on a South Seas island ruled by Dr. Moreau. He soon realizes that the lush jungle is populated with half-human, half animal creatures that are the result of God-defying experiments conducted by the hubristic scientist whose prized jewel is Lota the Panther Woman, the only female on the entire island.

I say watch this movie, either in its original version (which i of course recommend) or in its remade version "Island of Dr. Moreau" ,which stars Val Kilmer and John Voight, also truly excellent.

On the music scene music this week i'd have to say the honor goes to Guitar Hero on being the best music reproduction game of all time!! I've just recently purchased the World Tour band kit for the game series and it the most entertaining game i've ever played. The fact that it includes Classic Rock as well as Modern Rock makes the game perfect. bringing new generations to the classic sound and the old generation to the new sound. such a perfect engine. Lets not forget "The Beatles" Rock Band coming out next month as well as Guitar Hero 5.

Books Books Books and more Boooks!! lol its no secret that books and reading of all types is a huge activity in my family, on both sides, lol so its only fitting I write about some books too! lol
I just finished reading "Creepers" by David Morrell author of "First Blood" (Rambo). This was an excellent book however not exactly "Creepy" as the title would suggest. The book tells the story of 5 people who gather in a run-down motel on the Jersey Shore to prepare to break into the Paragon Hotel which is now boarded up and scheduled for demolition. They go in to investigate the many secrets the once glorious hotel has to offer, but instead find much much more..

I liked reading this story, it was reccommended to me by Bob Beren's "book cover series" and I found it very enjoyable, as I said I just wish it was more on the creepy line. but not so much, still good though!

well I think I covered all Pop Culture categories here lol if I fogot any please let me know! Hope ya'll have a great weekend and i'll be back here Monday morning with yet another obscure topic from the vending machine!! later

Think! It Pisses off Conservatives

Hideo HO!!! lol wow one blog posted and already 2 friends I must be popular! hope you enjoy.. well lets move on today, hmmm what to talk about......???

(P4) Politics my friends, politics...sigh so much dicussion here but only so much time to type before my hands go numb...lol for sake of time lets just stick one aspect here, Conservatives!! Republicans, or whatever they call themselves.. I just have one question, do these people have any actual intelligence, or is it just a day by day thing?

Let's take my wife's boss for example. Doctor(or so he calls himself), conservative.. He believes there is truly nothing wrong with the economic situation in this country, even when his own patients cancel their appointments because they got laid off, his response is..."People can afford anything they want, but not everything they want." thats an actual quote from this man.. if anybody reading this can tell me what that means I will humbley retract this entire blog.. I'm a person whose job was directly affected as a result of the bullshit legislation that goes on in this country and I would love to be able to afford to do anything I want...but I can't..because this reality *knock* *knock* hear that?..reality....dumbass!!!

now let's talk about these people who feel that Obama's Health Care Plan is the end of world.. umm hello since when is insuring every American a bad thing?? ohhh wait I know its because the republicans who like to keep the hundreds of thousands of dollars they steal from people hid so far up their ass they can't reach up far enough to pull some out to provide health care for their employees and so on..so let's cry about it, so you'd be taxed a little more YOU CAN AFFORD IT and I don't feel sorry for you.. but hey there isn't an economic problem anyway so why worry right??

If you are a conservative ( I like that word by the way) and your reading this, i'm not apologizing. and if your a friend who is a republican and reading this..hey you should have told me, I didn't know I had any.. lol

All I'm saying is, its time to stop the pissing and moaning and try to grow a brain and see the world through the eyes of something I like to call REALITY.. Join us won't you?

thanks guys, be sure to check out tomorrow's blog, I'll have some fun stuff in there (especially for you Chris!) see ya

(S2) "F"ed up justice

Hello everyone!! and welcome to the Vending Machine lol I know lame title, however, I really wanted to start a blog but didn't know what topic I wanted it to be about soooo I decided that I would talk about EVERYTHING lol thats right anything that pops into my twisted little mind and I feel like sharing with you bored people lol kidding.. anyway so the Vending Machine was born, my brain is a very spontaneous thing so like a vending machine the topics I cover will be despensed according to what i'm in the mood for...I hope you all enjoy and feel free to leave any comments and also what you'd like to talk about, even if its totally off subject, hence the vending machine..so let's get started

Today's Vending Machine topic is S2 (like on a vending machine) Sports!! lol which we all know I love (hate) sports...but today sports deserves some chatter because...if you haven't been following the news there has been a football player at the heat of coversation because this football player got drunk, drove his car, and killed somone.. Now this happend a while ago, and he has just now been sentenced to 30 Days House Arrest. I will let you ponder on that for a moment.

After about 2 months of court, he gets 30 days house arrest WITH 5 days a week he is able to go to football training!!! Are you Fing kidding me right now!

So Basically what the law is telling us is that, its ok to get trashed, drive your car, and kill someone, as long as your a football player for a shitty team. I guarentee that if you or I had been driving that car drunk, it would have been a real quick vehicular homicide and 5-10 years prision, driver's licence revoked etc. etc. etc. not 2 months of farking around and then a DUI Manslaughter charge with 30 days house arrest with 5 days able to leave.. my one friend had 60 days arrest and could only walk to work and all because he had a turn signal out.. this whole justice system is wacked!!

anyway feel free to let me know what you think
